Jerpoint Abbey , (72 images)
Jerpoint is among the finest of Ireland's medieval ruins. The Abbey may have started as the Benedictine foundation, but the Cistercians established themselves here in 1180. Much of the existing structure must date from shortly after this time. The ruins are laid out according to the typical Cistercian plan of a Church. The toumbstones in the church are from 13th to 16th century.
