The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya , (39 images) Last weekend we visited the Pattaya and Jomtien area. We had read about the Sancturary of Truth TEAK building and wanted to find out more. On the north coast line of Pattaya the beautiful and amazing building is rising as a monument and temple. You have to pay quite a lot of money to enter....500 Bath per person, extreamly high price for Thailand. But its worth it!! The real story behind the building is quite amazing.. With the extravagant name of Sanctuary of Truth, the temple-like structure was conceived by the same rather eccentric businessman who built the Ancient City near Bangkok. Khun Lek made a fortune importing luxury cars, he became convinced that the western values that have heavily influenced Asia in the last 50 years has not been a particularly good thing. In particular, he saw the rise of materialism as being highly detrimental to Asian values. The sanctuary was built as a rather subtle reminder of the artistic and cultural heritage of Asia. The park offers the visitors guided tour in the temple, horse riding in the park and a Delfin show at the lake. The building is under continuous construction since 1981. And today still a lot of work remains to be done. A quite large crew of craftsmen have their daily work carving teakwood. See the pictures we took. ...
