Terracotta Warriors Xian China , (35 images) The Terracotta Warriors in Xian in China are impressive and beautiful. We highly recommend a visit there. The Terracotta Warriors were discovered by accident in 1974 by a farmer digging his well on his farm. We met the farmer, he is currently signing books in the museum. The Terracotta Warriors in thousands of units were all dug into the soil protected by timber and soil. They are 180 up to 200 cm tall and had originally colorful painted surface. Their purpose was to guard the grave of the emperor Chin close by. Chin is the emperor who started making the Great Wall and China is named after him. His mausoleum together with thousands of terracotta warriors are not uncovered yet. The excavation work is continuously ongoing. We took hundreds of pictures. Have a look at some of them....
